RECENT ACTIVITIES

April 2007 - Cobham Bus Museum Open Day

This was the first of our regular events of the year, held at a new venue, the former MVEE Testing Grounds at Chobham. The bright sunshine drew big crowds who were able, for the first time to ride in a number of the exhibits, including some of our members’ cabs.

June 2007 - Waalwijk, Netherlands

The LVTA’s Dutch Section regularly attends the MG Car Club of Holland’s Autojumble and car show, and this year they were joined by several UK members, including chairman Doug Cheshire who took his Austin 12/6 across on the ferry, magazine editor Bill Munro and new member Ben Hogan. Next year the UK people plan a bigger ‘invasion’!

June 2007 - Woking Hospice

As well as attending shows as part of an organized club presence, members regularly take their cabs to other venues. Popular with our members in the south of England is the Woking Hospice Charity Fun Day

July 2007 - Uxbridge Auto Show

This is the club’s main event of the year. We fielded nine cabs, ranging in age from two 1934 Austin 12/4s, two Mk7 Beardmores, a Metrocab prototype, an Austin FX3, an Austin FX4Q and two LTI Fairways. Cloudy skies and the threat of thundery showers kept the crowds low this year, but unlike Enfield the weather stayed dry for us!

Public Carriage Office

From time to time the club puts a display on at the Public Carriage Office, which is where all of the capital’s taxis are tested and licensed each year. This picture shows an interesting study in rear-ends at the 2002 event.
